High-Resolution Climate Change Information for Extremes and Land Use Change
摘要
This report provides an overview of the IMKTRO’s contributions to the Flagship pilot studies (FPS) within the CORDEX initiative, specifically focusing on the Convective Phenomena over Europe and the Mediterranean (FPSC) and Land Use and Climate Across Scales (LUCAS) projects. FPSC found improvements in the representation of small-scale processes from the analysis of kilometer-scale simulations. However, there are still open research questions and problems with this type of climate simulations. FPS-LUCAS examines the impact of land use on climate. The study found that targeted land use changes, such as afforestation, have the potential to mitigate the impacts of climate change on a regional scale in Europe. Additionally, the report highlights the use of the KIT-KLIWA ensemble for climate adaptation strategies in the Stuttgart region and to examine the climate change signal of heat stress and extreme precipitation.
