From Empiricism to a Humane View of Human Being
摘要
When people—or life phenomena in general—are not described as permanent features, our understanding of life and people becomes contextual. Man can only be understood in relation to their context as a whole. The brain is an important part of the human being, but it does not fully explain human characteristics or the causes of mental health problems. Facing the human being in his or her context enables the mobilization of resources in the most challenging crises. The dialogue opened the way to transcend pathologizing descriptions of problematic situations. Dialogue is not just a philosophical attitude, but a broad combination of different perspectives, and dialogue between them is essential for the development of a holistic understanding. Philosophy, too, can tend toward pathological descriptions of schizophrenia and thus prevent a deeper understanding of life phenomena.
