This chapter provides an overview of project delivery methods in infrastructure development, focusing on Design- Bid-Build (D-B-B), Design-Build (D-B), and Construction Manager/General Contractor (CM/GC). It explores their definitions, functional structures, and an illustration of the historical significance from a developed country context, i.e., US highway construction. The chapter emphasizes the critical importance of selecting appropriate delivery methods for project success and presents empirical data on project performance. It addresses the prevalent issue of subjective selection of project delivery methods and advocates for the adoption of objective, auditable frameworks. The chapter also discusses the implications of these findings for developing countries, highlighting the need for improved selection processes in the context of internationally and/or multilaterally funded projects. By presenting a rich analysis of empirical data and recommending practical tools for project delivery method selection, this chapter aims to foster better decision-making in infrastructure development across various geographical and economic contexts.
