Constantine the Philosopher at the Caliph’s Court
摘要
The chapter deals with the mission of Constantine the Philosopher to the Caliph’s court in Samarra, which is, contrary to the previously accepted year 855, based on the data of his Old Slavonic Life, dated to late 857–early 858, in the context of the religious polemics between the Christian and Muslim theologians of the time, involving the Muslim letter full of challenges to the Christian faith and the Christian response to them through the anti-Muslim treatises of Nicetas of Byzantium.
