Design and Implementation of a Connected Stabilometric Platform to Assess Human Balance and Static Postural Stability
摘要
The rising prevalence of individuals with impairments in recent years has resulted in a heightened demand for remote monitoring solutions. More affordable, expandable, and widely accessible IoT health instruments are critically needed, especially in third-world countries where cost is a major obstacle to deployment. The democratization of Internet of Things (IoT) devices facilitates the implementation of healthcare systems capable of assisting with diseases and impairments. Subsequently, we developed a prototype that includes all of the necessary components of a health-related IoT instrumentation system. The objective of this prototype is to serve as an initial stage in the creation of professional stabilometric platforms, which are intermediary healthcare equipment that doctors, physiotherapists, and researchers may exploit to more successfully and simply control patients’ postural stability and balance. Data from wireless sensors is collected and delivered to the server over WiFi communication protocol. The processed and saved data is then delivered to the mobile application via the MQTT protocol from a Firebase database. The deployed mobile application assesses the patient’s state by using the stabilogram, statokinesigram, and pressure layer.
