Sustainability in the space sector has become an increasingly important issue as space activities expand. This paper presents an exploratory literature review to identify categories and themes related to sustainability in outer space. The study highlights social, legal, economic, technical, and environmental aspects, as well as a demographic profile of reviewed researchers in this field by gender and country. The findings underscore the need for sustainable and interdisciplinary practices to ensure the long-term viability of outer space environments while promoting responsible exploration and use of space resources.
