Google has been an important research and decision-making tool in private and business contexts. More than 71% of B2B buyers begin their search on Google looking for potential solutions (Snyder & Hilal, The changing face of B2B marketing. Think with Google, 2015). However, what if the solution is new and has not yet reached a significant search volume? This was the situation faced by Instahelp, the subject of this case study. Instahelp is a digital platform for online psychological counseling in the DACH region, the UK, and France offering this service to individuals and companies. Psychological counseling at the workplace is an emerging niche within employee benefits and workplace health promotion. As such, it faces the challenge of having a limited awareness of the solution among the target audience, HR professionals, and executives, and therefore a limited search volume on search engines. This case study explores how the mental health platform Instahelp successfully increased its B2B inbound leads by overcoming the challenge of low-volume keywords using a SEA Platform (Search Engine Advertising) like Google Ads. By examining the process, the implementation, and the feedback process paired with the significant outcomes achieved, this case study aims to provide valuable practical insights into a possible B2B marketing strategy using Google Ads. First, the article discusses the importance of conversions and differentiating between micro and macro conversions. These conversions were used by Google Ads and assigned specific values, allowing the platform to prioritize actions that aligned with Instahelp’s business goals. The article then delves into expanding keyword topics. By broadening the scope of keywords, we were able to cover new topics, problems, and solutions related to corporate health, which HR professionals are actively searching for. Adjusting to the current developments in the Google Ads ecosystem, further methods such as fully automated cross-network campaigns (Performance Max Campaigns) were tested. Lastly, the article sums up the importance of analytics and the feedback based not only on website interactions but also on lead quality and deals closed. This feedback was used to evaluate overall campaign performance and for budget allocation among the Google Ads campaigns. By integrating the tactics—from conversions to keyword and campaign diversification paired with continuous client feedback—“Low-Search Volume, High Impact” provides the reader with a practical overview of a Google Ads strategy in B2B marketing.
