It ultimately refers to many different facets of modern B2B marketing. Strategy helps to quantify the value of marketing for a company. Anyone who leads a B2B marketing team, a budget, or a campaign inevitably faces these challenges in the area of planning on a regular basis. Great ideas are still the main goal, but these ideas can ultimately not thrive without the foundation of a strategic platform. For 20 years, I have developed an eight-step model to ensure the success of B2B marketing planning and strategy implementation, ranging from internal blue-chip strategies to award-winning campaigns for my agency’s clients. The methods used in the creation of this strategy model have been rigorously tested, applied, adapted, and improved over the course of more than 200 marketing audit and planning processes for medium-sized companies, industrial companies, B2B service/technology, and science-based companies with an annual turnover typically between 10 and 30 million EUR.

The age of passivity in B2B marketing is coming to an end. With the explosion of marketing technology (MarTech), the democratization of publishing, distribution, and the development of ever better competitive approaches, there has never been a better time to recognize the strategic importance of industrial, technological, and service-based B2B marketing and to use it as a success factor. Good B2B marketing in practice often involves as much a scientific and strategic approach as creativity. Marketing for highly specific customers in niche segments means moving in a haystack. But this metaphor can also be applied to the selection of channels or MarTech tools, the sifting through content, or the evaluation of data floods.
