Numerical and Experimental Assessment of the Impact Test on Liteon Batteries
摘要
This research shows numerical simulations and experimental evaluations of the structural deformation of lithium batteries after mechanical impact with a solid object. A battery was designed using CAD method, and its mechanical impact was evaluated in a numerical simulation program (Ls-Dyna®). The numerical simulation consisted on a free-fall of a steel sphere (25 mm diameter) impacting at 9 m/s on the surface of the 20 C prismatic battery. The experimental scenario was executed in the same way to obtain the stress, the deformations, and the displacement states of a pouch battery, validating the results of the numerical model. The experimental tests were performed to evaluate the footprint generated by the indenter. Results show the difference between both methods, the deformations obtained by the measurement strain gauges (placed it in the battery case) and the numerical solution in the same configuration, the values not differ more than 0.5 mm.
