This paper discusses the challenges behind electric vehicle (EVs) battery disassembly, with a focus on cutting cables. Task requirements are identified to identify a conceptual solution towards the development of a prototype able to grasp and then cut the cables usually found in EV batteries. A novel design for cable grasping and cutting is presented with an end-effector made of soft tendrils that pull cables towards a circular saw.

摘要

This paper discusses the challenges behind electric vehicle (EVs) battery disassembly, with a focus on cutting cables. Task requirements are identified to identify a conceptual solution towards the development of a prototype able to grasp and then cut the cables usually found in EV batteries. A novel design for cable grasping and cutting is presented with an end-effector made of soft tendrils that pull cables towards a circular saw.
