The CityVerse initiative, part of the European Commission’s Digital Decade Policy Program 2030, aims to promote shared investments in digital infrastructure and knowledge to support the development of digital twins across Europe, contributing to the EU’s digital transformation goals. This paper examines how the Snap4City Digital Twin solution, created by the DISIT Lab at the University of Florence, aligns with CityVerse requirements. Snap4City offers tools to build digital 3D models of buildings or cities, enabling simulations, predictions, and strategic urban planning. It is a FIWARE-certified, OASC, and EOSC platform, adhering to MIMs Plus standards. Conformant with DS4SSCC blueprint and LDTs Toolbox, Snap4City provides innovative, interoperable solutions for managing Living Digital Twins, facilitating the simulation of real-world scenarios and integration into smart city ecosystems. Key features of Snap4City include its open-source, interoperable platform, comprehensive IoT integration, support for Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and training resources. These aspects make it a valuable contributor to the CityVerse initiative by advancing sustainability, Digital Twin technology, and open-source collaboration. Overall, Snap4City’s versatile platform aligns with the European Commission’s objectives for CityVerse, positioning it as a crucial tool in fostering digital transformation and supporting smart, sustainable urban development across Europe.
