First, they define what endophytes are and how these organisms can penetrate plant tissues without harming the plant, the host of the endophyte. General information on plant endophytes and their taxonomy is provided, paying special attention to these symbionts’ taxonomic range and host preference. The ways of endophyte-plant interaction are discussed in detail, as well as the mechanisms of colonization, endophyte communication with the plant, and the positive effects of endophytes on the plant. This is why the endophyte performance is affected by the type of soil, climate, and anthropogenic factors. Numerous works and examples show the importance of the knowledge of endophytes’ roles and the potential for their applications in sustainable agriculture and the protection of biota. In conclusion, the chapter presents the study's findings by explaining the position of endophytes in soil health, their sensitivity to the environment, and the need to research the unknown more. Endophytes and their positive and negative effects on the host plant, the adverse effects of endophytes on the host plant, and how they can be a threat are discussed, and the importance of endophytes in agriculture is stressed. Therefore, This research places endophytes as relevant caretakers of the earth, thus laying down a good foundation for realizing the potential of soil fertility and productivity.
