A review of chromogenic materials used in the development of various paper-based sensors and devices is carried out. A description of the phenomena underlying photochromism, electrochromism, thermochromism, piezochromism, ionochromism, halochromism, solvatochromism, mechanochromism, magnetochromism, hydrochromism, and biochromism is given. Specific examples of the use of these phenomena are presented. It is shown that chromism is a promising direction in the development of both paper-based sensors for the detection of gases, vapors, metal ions, and biomolecules and paper-based devices for smart packaging, wearable electronics, and medical and environmental monitoring.

摘要
