The Blue Homeland in the Turkish Grand National Assembly Debates
摘要
The delimitation of national maritime zones in the Eastern Mediterranean is one of the most important issues in contemporary Turkish foreign policy. Recognition of the Blue Homeland doctrine in Turkish foreign policy after 2018 came as a result of 20 years of discussions on maritime policies although the doctrine accelerated the already existing tensions in the international political agenda. In this study, parliamentarians’ and parties’ official standpoints in the Grand National Assembly will be evaluated through the discourse analysis method and the archives will be analysed starting from the beginning of the 2000s to understand the evolution of the political considerations of the seas in Türkiye since 2000.
