This short introduction explains the rationale behind the conference on the centenary of the Treaty of Lausanne, held in Athens in June 2023, by the Hellenic Foundation of European and Foreign Policy (ELIAMEP) and the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. The conference resulted in this volume which examines both the historical dimensions and the legacy of the treaty in our days in an interdisciplinary manner, and with the participation of experts from Greece, Turkey, Britain, France, Austria and Japan.
