The pathogenesis of neurodegenerative disorders such as Parkinson’s disease and other similar conditions is significantly influenced by epigenetics. The epigenetic pathway encompasses a wide range of processes, such as the alteration of histones, the methylation of DNA, and the regulation of non-coding RNA (ncRNA). In the central nervous system (CNS), the immune system is an essential component in the regulation of neuroinflammatory processes. In addition, the intersection of the immune system and epigenetic regulation is becoming an intriguing subject for researchers to investigate in order to gain a better knowledge of the pathogenesis of disease. The involvement of such occurrences in the pathogenesis of Parkinson’s disease is investigated in detail in this chapter.
