摘要

As an individual ages, the brain undergoes complex structural and functional changes that ultimately lead to cognitive dysfunction. With the aging population fast expanding, there is an unmet clinical need for interventions to prevent age-related cognitive decline. Noncoding RNAs have emerged as crucial regulators of cellular and biochemical processes in age-related cognitive dysfunction and neurodegenerative disease in general. This paper provides an overview of the current knowledge on the role of noncoding RNAs in brain aging, emphasizing the mechanism of RNA epigenetics and modifications that regulate noncoding RNAs’ function.
