Mangrove-Derived Actinomycetes Used in Bioremediation
摘要
Mangrove ecosystems are unique and vital and found in tropical/subtropical regions. Mangroves are challenging environments with high salinity, anoxic conditions, and variable temperatures. Actinomycetes from these habitats have adapted to these conditions, potentially making them suitable for bioremediation of contaminated environments. They are characterized by their ability to thrive in harsh environmental conditions where few other plants can survive. Mangrove-derived actinomycetes, a group of filamentous bacteria, known for their ability to produce a wide range of bioactive compounds and enzymes are an intriguing area of research for bioremediation. Actinomycetes are particularly abundant in mangrove ecosystems, having rich organic material and unique environmental conditions. Mangrove-derived actinomycetes hold great promise for bioremediation due to their specialized adaptations to harsh environments and their ability to produce a variety of useful enzymes and metabolites. Their potential applications are diverse, ranging from antimicrobial/antifungal activities to heavy metal removal in wastewater treatment and soil decontamination.
