This chapter explores how digital technologies are reshaping both the kitchen and dining experience, offering new ways to enhance the preparation and consumption of food. It charts the surprisingly long history of digital technological innovations in the home kitchen. Although cooking robots and 3D food printers have yet to enter homes in any meaningful way, technology companies are actively envisioning how digital tools might transform domestic cooking and eating. The chapter focuses on digital augmentation, from innovations in smart cutlery to the creative repurposing of everyday devices for culinary contexts. It considers how such technologies, often first showcased in engineering, humancomputer interaction (HCI), and robotics laboratories, may gradually influence home practices. By examining these developments, the chapter reflects on the opportunities and limitations of digital augmentation in the home to reshape our engagement with food in both the kitchen and at the table. Ultimately, it may be digital recipe creation aids that are the most evident sign of digital technology in the home environment in the near term.
