Statistics for Six Sigma
摘要
The representation and analysis of data requires the use of statisticsStatistics (*); therefore, statistics is conceptually the most important unifying concept of all measure, analyze, improve, and control phases. There are two well-known types of statistics, descriptive and inferential, that can be used as a part of measurements. The descriptive statistics represent the statistical results based on the period that the data is collected. We want to highlight the “the time period that the data is collected” because the period of the data matters; what is measured a month ago may not necessarily represent today’s system. Inferential statistics is used by which observations are made based on the existing data to extract meaningful outcomes for future observations. The periodic observations and the seasonal considerations of the data also need to be kept in mind during the data collection and the type of statistic used during measurements.
