Science education has little history as a research field compared to the history of science. Although research in science education is a relatively new enterprise, it has been evolving since the beginning of the twentieth century. The development of research in science education is strongly affected by curriculum developments. Therefore, research studies carried out during the 1960s were often linked to curriculum development work. However, in the 1980s reform, new perspectives on teaching and learning caused a shift in the interest of many researchers towards studies of conceptual change and ways of reasoning. The science education literature has been dominated by research in STEM/STEM education, higher education, teacher education, professional development, curriculum, nature of science, and assessment/evaluation in the last two decades. Emerging areas of research are STEM/STEM education, and computational thinking/computer science education in recent years. The results of this bibliometric analysis study are based on data belonged to SER research papers published in Web of Science (WoS) journals between 2000–2022. Contributions of the world to SER literature are analyzed in terms of country, journal, and author keywords.

摘要
