This paper explores the integration of multi-agent systems (MAS) into intelligent tutorial systems (ITS) to enhance learning environments. The integration of MAS overcomes the limitations of traditional ITS by providing increased personalization, collaboration, and adaptability. Specialized agents, such as tutors and diagnosticians, maximize the effectiveness of the system. We discuss the main architectural patterns of MAS, present successful case studies, and provide a comparative analysis of architectural approaches. Practical implications and future research directions are also discussed.
