Malicious attacks have recently multiplied with the widespread transmission of data over open networks, posing a real threat in certain fields of application where data is sensitive. It is therefore essential to design a robust system that enables secure data transmission. Watermarking is an effective data-hiding method that protects copyright and guarantees data ownership. However, the existing traditional methods require a trusted third party, which complicates their implementation and limits their applications. Blockchain technology has recently gained important interest due to its advantages. Its application with data hiding techniques could therefore solve the above problems. This study presents an overview of the blockchain dedicated to the digital watermarking by analyzing selected articles. Research findings are discussed for further exploration.
