This chapter summarizes the key contributions and findings from our research on adaptive and scalable blockchain protocols. It synthesizes the major innovations presented: AdaptPoW’s dynamic scaling with transaction de-duplication for PoW blockchains, AdaptPoS’s energy-efficient approach to throughput adaptation in PoS systems, and AdaptShard’s optimistic cross-shard transaction processing. The discussion highlights how these protocols collectively advance blockchain scalability through different yet complementary approaches: AdaptPoW through DAG-based structures, AdaptPoS through role decoupling and dynamic committee adjustment, and AdaptShard through optimized cross-shard coordination. The chapter concludes by identifying promising future research directions, including optimization for dynamic network conditions, enhancement of committee-based BFT protocols, and advancement of cross-chain interoperability, providing a roadmap for continued innovation in blockchain scalability and adaptability.
