This book had the ambition to be a contribution to improve the pedagogy of ecology, and I hope my essay will be convincing and foster reflections, constructive criticisms and comments from ecology teachers and researchers. It aimed at giving a more rigorous basis to the discipline. But it is just a proposition, certainly neither a panacea replacing the former ecology essays, nor a comprehensive work. I am aware of the many loopholes in it.
