Developing Responsibility, Compassion, and a Social Conscience
摘要
This chapter discusses the emotional and behavioral challenges faced by Ethan, a young boy diagnosed with ADHD who exhibits frequent intense outbursts. While stimulant medication managed his hyperactivity and focus, it had a limited impact on emotional regulation. Implementing the Matthews Protocol, a behavioral intervention, significantly reduced Ethan’s outbursts’ frequency, duration, and intensity, improving his quality of life. Additionally, the chapter delves into strategies for fostering responsibility, compassion, and social conscience in children, emphasizing the role of positive reinforcement, collaborative problem-solving, and modeling empathetic behavior.
