Metal gear transmission has been fully exploited and has a complete database for design calculations. However, the use of a metal gear transmission still has some weaknesses. With the momentum of the development of plastic materials and reinforced plastic materials, the use of these materials for gear transmission has been promoted because plastic has outstanding advantages over metal. This chapter reviews the criteria for calculating plastic gears as to fatigue strength and stiffness according to current standards and previous studies.
