Economic and Technical Analysis of Waste Heat Utilization for Operating an Absorption Chiller in a Brewery: A Case Study
摘要
Manufacturing industries account for nearly 40% of global energy consumption, making them significant contributors to greenhouse gas emissions. To meet sustainable development goals and mitigate global warming, it is crucial for factories to adopt energy-efficient and cost-effective strategies. One often overlooked area in industries utilizing boilers is the potential of exhaust gases as a valuable energy resource. This study proposes a solution for recovering waste heat from boiler exhaust gases to operate absorption chillers, thus reducing electricity consumption within breweries. The solution leverages this low-cost energy source to provide both substantial economic benefits and a significant reduction in greenhouse gas emissions, contributing to long-term sustainable development. The analysis demonstrates annual savings of 535.9 MWh of electricity, equivalent to 891.2 million VND (over 36,000 USD), alongside a reduction of 362.6 tons of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions. The estimated payback period for the proposed investment is 3.8 years.
