Application of Vehicle Routing Problem at Logistic Company: A Case Study
摘要
The vehicle routing problem (VRP) is an established problem in research over the past 50 years of operations research, with many practical applications, especially in the field of transportation and logistics. ABC company has provided logistics services, with the main service provided being Inland Road Transport Service. In particular, the transportation price and service quality are the two most important factors for customers when choosing a service, which also impacts ABC company’s profit. Gasoline costs VND 2,011,476,000, accounting for 23% of the total selling expenses and 5.62% of net sales. From there, a solution has been proposed to apply the vehicle routing problem (VRP) to routing modeling for efficient delivery lines. Based on the relevant documents and characteristics of the opponent, a suitable model for routing operations has been chosen, post-model math has been built, and the model has been tested using sample data in Python. Then, the results are analyzed to develop a model to solve routing problems with real data. As a result, there is a 15–25% reduction in the company’s shipping cost when applying the proposed model. The cost of sales was reduced, and the model running time did not exceed 30 min to ensure the operation of the company.
