Enhancing Container Terminal Design: A Case Study of Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam

Over recent decades, global trade has steadily grown, resilient even amid the COVID-19 pandemic's economic challenges, with expectations for continued expansion. In tandem, the container shipping sector has witnessed significant growth. However, designing an efficient container port is intricate, requiring nuanced considerations across storage yards, quays, and gates, each demanding specific equipment and operating under distinct characteristics. This paper aims to apply a proposed model to a case study in Ho Chi Minh City (Vietnam), focusing on optimizing container port design amidst global trade expansion. It delves into the complexities of port infrastructure, examining technical and economic factors across key areas. Through this tailored model application, the study seeks to offer insights into enhancing port efficiency to meet rising container shipping demands, particularly within the dynamic context of Ho Chi Minh City.
