Nanobioformulations: Paving the Way for Sustainable Crop Management Beyond the Fields
摘要
Nanobioformulations (NBFs) in agriculture present eco-friendly solutions for both pre and post-harvest crop management, effectively tackling issues such as food grain losses, pathogenic attacks, and environmental concerns. By merging nanotechnology with biotechnology, these formulations utilize nano-sized agents derived from plant growth-promoting microbes, thereby boosting crop yield, enhancing disease control, and improving overall crop health. Moreover, NBFs promote sustainable practices by reducing dependence on chemical pesticides and fertilizers, optimizing resource utilization, and bolstering soil fertility. However, regulatory scrutiny and safety considerations surrounding nanomaterials (NMs) necessitate comprehensive evaluation to ensure their safe and responsible implementation in agriculture. Despite these challenges, the integration of NBFs with sensing technologies shows promise for precision in agriculture, leading to enhanced productivity and minimized environmental impact. Moving forward, future research endeavours may centre on the development of novel crop varieties, exploration of advanced post-harvest treatments, and utilization of deep learning techniques for efficient crop quality monitoring. In essence, NBFs epitomize cutting-edge technology in agriculture, providing targeted and sustainable remedies for crop management and food security. Through the harmonious integration of nanotechnology and biotechnology, these formulations pave the way for a more resilient and environmentally conscious agricultural sector.
