The application of microbial solutions in agriculture presents a viable approach to fight against food insecurity caused by different factors such as climate change. Therefore, this chapter gives information on identifying beneficial microbes that can increase crop yield, soil quality, and livestock production. It discusses the misconceptions around the use of microbial solutions for agricultural purposes, which reduces their acceptability. The general belief that microbes are solely harmful and pathogenic is erroneous. Fortunately, against these beliefs, microbial solutions have proved helpful in crop and livestock production. Different research has shown that probiotics in animals, and mycorrhizal fungi and rhizobia in crops increase crop yield and serve as biopesticides in plants. Other advantages and effects of microbial solutions in agriculture include increased soil fertility and minimal environmental pollution. However, several issues need to be addressed to improve the applicability of microbial solutions for agricultural purposes. Such issues border around formulation, quality, and specific applications to crops. Finally, the chapter underlines the need for research based on the compatibility of microbial solutions with specific environmental conditions, the application of new biotechnology technologies, and extensive education programs (awareness) to achieve the maximum outcome when utilising microbes. Future research should aim to develop environment-resistant and effective agricultural microbial solutions using technological improvements to ensure sustainable agricultural systems, especially in the face of climate change.
