Python is a powerful high level computer language with numerous features. In this chapter we consider those general aspects of the language that will be needed to achieve the mathematical goals of the book. More specialized features will appear later the text. While not necessary, the interested reader may wish to supplement the material in this chapter with one of the many excellent texts on Python.
