The research is aimed at assessing the content of chemicals in the soil around the former base for long-term storage of military equipment and strategic missile carriers. Petroleum products and components of rocket fuel (melange) were stored in the described territories. After the collapse of the Soviet Union, the research base was liquidated, but the components of the missiles continued to be stored and gradually (for several years) neutralized. Soil analysis was carried out using X-ray fluorescence analysis. During the research, it was established that the soils contain significant amounts of dangerous chemical elements such as Manganese, Vanadium, Chromium and Sulphur. The share of heavy metals and chemical elements that are harmful to human health in some points exceeds the maximum allowable content standards.
