Addressing global environmental challenges necessitates the pursuit of sustainable energy solutions. Concentrated solar power (CSP) systems, a prominent form of solar thermal energy, present a viable alternative to fossil fuels, offering substantial improvements in process efficiency and sustainability. In the food industry, where thermal energy demands are significant, CSP systems can improve operational efficiency and address environmental concerns. This study explores the integration of a CSP system within the Mexican food industry, focusing on its capacity to meet the thermal requirements for frying processes. Here, we show that using linear Fresnel reflectors (LFR) with Therminol VP1 as the heat transfer fluid can significantly cut natural gas consumption while fulfilling thermal demands. Our analysis reveals that the system achieves energy efficiencies ranging from 31 to 56% and exergy efficiencies from 34 to 61% on June 21st, with lower efficiencies noted on December 21st. The analysis offers a comprehensive CSP system performance evaluation in industrial settings, demonstrating its potential for significant energy savings and reduced carbon emissions. These findings highlight the importance of CSP systems in promoting sustainability across diverse industrial applications. By enhancing renewable energy utilization, this study supports the broader adoption of solar technologies in México, advancing global efforts toward a more sustainable future.

摘要
