Using routine outcome monitoring to provide feedback to therapists about their patients’ treatment progress helps to improve clinical outcomes. Providing therapists with guidelines on how to identify and address obstacles to clinical improvement is known to enhance the effects of feedback. Researchers have sought to identify the most common obstacles that get in the way of progress and the treatment techniques that are likely to help. This chapter synthesises evidence from 20 years of research in this area. Drawing on the empirical literature pertaining to several psychotherapeutic techniques, five clinical support tools are described with practical instructions and accompanying worksheets. These tools can be used to support treatment adaptation for cases that do not respond well to conventional evidence-based treatment protocols.

摘要
