II.ii STATEMENT: Standardisation: The Root of the Flat Curve
摘要
Once upon a time in history, there existed medical schools with a beautiful and probably very efficient apprenticeship system where students learned by doing, were supervised, and mentored and had role models. This was long before the world ever knew about ‘general and transferable skills’. As time passed, more and more structure was introduced to make sure that all students were given ‘equal opportunities’ to learn. So, the main fascination was with making sure that students in one class all learned the same things, but very little effort was applied to ensure that the methods of standardisation promised students the same values, quality and mentorship that was given to their ancestors.
