Bedside teaching is an integral part of undergraduate and postgraduate medical training. It offers opportunities for role modelling and learning of important clinical skills. There has been a sharp decline in bedside teaching in recent decades. To preserve and sustain this practice new bedside teaching approaches have been developed. The authors of this reflection are a rheumatologist and two paediatricians who have substantial experience of working and teaching at the bedside in the global north and south. This chapter reflects on their collective learning during a bedside teaching innovation experience in an African context.
