Medicine is a profession that deals with all aspects of health and healing. Four goals of medicine were set out for the Hastings Center Goals of Medicine project in 1999. These are applicable today and for the foreseeable future:Science is moving at a fast pace (nano-technology, the microchip …), and as we dive into this new and exciting world of minutiae, we must not miss the bigger picture. It is so important to have a strong foundation in a good education, and to learn to heal humans and not just particular medical conditions.
