The term orofacial tumour is an umbrella term for any abnormal or excessive growth of tissue (termed neoplasia) in the mouth, jaws or face. It includes benign (non-cancerous) types, such as an ameloblastoma of the jaws or a pleomorphic adenoma of a salivary gland and malignant (cancerous) tumours, such as a squamous cell carcinoma of the oral cavity or melanoma of the skin of the cheek.
