Bleeding from gums, either while chewing food, brushing teeth or spontaneously, is commonly referred to as ‘bleeding gums’. Bleeding from gums at provocation is a common finding. However, it should be attended to by the patient and the dentist. Spontaneous bleeding (with no apparent provocation) from the gums is alarming, so one should seek immediate dental/medical attention for this condition.
