Dental Malocclusion
摘要
Dental occlusion is the relationship of the teeth to each other when an individual bites together. Though this usually refers to the back teeth, there are parameters for normal occlusion for both front and back teeth. For the back teeth, the tooth that is most commonly analysed is the first molar tooth, which normally erupts at 6 years of age. For the front teeth, the upper and the lower incisor relationship is assessed. Dental malocclusion is a condition in which the normal alignment of the teeth is disrupted due to improper positioning of the teeth within the dental arch or an abnormal relationship of teeth between the upper and lower dental arches or both. It may also result from an incorrect relationship between the upper and lower jaws. Malocclusions can result from genetic factors, environmental factors, or a combination of the two. Malocclusion, or an abnormal bite, can affect facial aesthetics, chewing, speech and overall oral health.
