The first panel of the SRB Legal Conference 2024, moderated by SRB Board Member Pedro Machado, examined the legal challenges and transformative impacts of digitalisation on the resolution transfer tools. The panellists discussed the role of digitalisation in reshaping financial crisis management, focusing in particular on the sale of business and bridge bank tools. Drawing on case studies such as Silicon Valley Bank and Banco Popular, the panellists illustrated how digital transformation on the one hand enhances operational efficiency, while it on the other hand introduces new challenges, such as accelerated deposit outflows and cybersecurity risks. By addressing the aforementioned dynamics, the panel emphasised the need for robust yet flexible legal frameworks and adaptive strategies to strengthen financial stability in a rapidly evolving landscape.
