In recent years, the world has seen rapid adoption of digital transformation in various organizations, which has forced them to modernize the software architecture of their business applications. Consequently, the migration towards a microservices architecture has managed to gain significant momentum due to the benefits of scalability, robustness, resistance to failures and recovery capacity that it offers; However, this type of migration turns out to be complex and long-lasting, in most cases it requires a decomposition of the database and components of the current monolithic application. The present study presents a literature review, supported by the systematic mapping methodology, to collect information related to existing advances in standardized procedures or methodologies aimed at the migration of applications based on monolithic architecture towards microservices, which guarantee the coherence of the data. The results allow us to identify and infer that this type of relational database decomposition practice is in an early stage, which is why there are no standardized methodologies that allow efficient migration at the data layer level. Finally, some relevant contributions are made for future research that derive from the findings identified during the literature review; which refer to the level of association between tables, normalization rules and ensuring data consistency.
