Black psychologists play a critical role in addressing racism, discrimination, and cultural bias in forensic psychological assessment. Despite longstanding calls for culturally specific evaluations, forensic psychology continues to marginalize African-centered perspectives, leading to disproportionate rates of incarceration, biased treatment recommendations, and the over-pathologizing of Black Americans. African-centered psychology offers an evidence-informed framework for understanding the psychological stressors and needs of people of African ancestry, yet practical guidelines for conducting African-centered forensic assessments remain underdeveloped. This chapter examines the historical limitations of forensic psychological assessment, the foundations of African-centered psychology, and the integration of African-centered assessment measures in forensic evaluations. It also provides step-by-step guidance on conducting African-centered forensic assessments and offers recommendations for improving culturally responsive forensic practice.

摘要
