Black psychologists often face a critical choice between accommodation and reform when considering how to serve Black communities. Drawing from Karenga’s framework of the three schools of Black psychology, we explore the role of Black radical psychology in countering institutional complacency. By engaging in a modern Black liberatory praxis, rooted in the Black radical tradition, we examine the transformative potential of Maroon psychological practices within forensic settings. Through the foundational work of Thomas Hilliard, this article highlights the necessity of a radical critique in forensic psychology to challenge and disrupt the systemic harm imposed on Black communities within the context of broader radical movement.
