Artificial Intelligence Influencer Attributes and User Engagement: An Empirical Study with a Validated Instrument
摘要
Despite the growing popularity of Artificial Intelligence (AI) influencers globally, further research is required to understand their impact on user engagement to optimize digital marketing strategies. Therefore, this study aims to gain insights into the impact of AI influencer attributes on user engagement, with a focus on the mediating role of parasocial interaction (PSI). A quantitative research design utilizing a cross-sectional survey was adopted, collecting data from 568 social media users following AI influencers. The data were analyzed using the Smart PLS software. The findings revealed that the uses and gratification attributes have a significant positive impact on user engagement. In contrast, the source credibility attribute showed a negative impact. However, when mediated with PSI, these attributes positively impact user engagement. Lastly, the study has theoretical and practical implications, proposes directions, and paves the way for future research.
