Change of rock wettability under high-pressure CO2 is related to CO2 adsorption on surface of rocks. It is shown by experimental results and Gibbs free energy analysis that CO2 adsorption can render the rocks more CO2-wet, enabling CO2 to overcome the capillary entry pressure and access a greater fraction of the pore space. Several consequences are discussed.

摘要

Change of rock wettability under high-pressure CO2 is related to CO2 adsorption on surface of rocks. It is shown by experimental results and Gibbs free energy analysis that CO2 adsorption can render the rocks more CO2-wet, enabling CO2 to overcome the capillary entry pressure and access a greater fraction of the pore space. Several consequences are discussed.
