Digesting Field-Theoretical Findings Personally: Between a Letter to One’s Future Self and a Policy Brief
摘要
This chapter presents a personal reflection on the autoethnographic findings through the letter to one’s future self exercise. The author seeks to personally process the empirical findings of the autoethnographic reports while offering recommendations to their future self on how to think and act during workplace conflicts or crises. These include having the courage to negotiate leadership patterns rather than passively submitting to the leader’s proposed circumvention strategies. Additionally, a policy brief summarizing ethnographic findings in a bakery was shared with the main participant of the ethnographic research. The researcher encouraged the bakery to develop collective higher-order goals that mediate between employee and management needs, seeking to address and resolve the antagonism between internal and external leadership patterns negatively affecting the organization. Sharing these findings with the participant sparked a fruitful discussion about ways to improve the research, such as incorporating personality traits and refining the policy brief collaboratively with employees. Ultimately, the policy brief helped the participant feel validated in her perspective and strengthened in her stance on workplace issues—an essential foundation for addressing negative workplace emotions.
