Fabrication and Evaluation of Oligomer Chitosan/Silver Nanoparticle Microneedle Arrays for Wound Dressing Applications

Microneedle (MN) technology has become an innovative technique for biomedical research and is becoming increasingly well-known around the globe because of its many uses in medication delivery. This study explores a promising approach for wound management by leveraging the unique strengths of both MNs and electrospun membranes. Integrating oligomer chitosan (COS) microneedle array with silver nanoparticles (Ag NPs) aims to eradicate Pseudomonas aeruginosa bacteria and promote wound healing. After the membrane is fabricated, the physical, chemical, and biological properties of the obtained dressings will be investigated through tests such as scanning electron microscopy, mechanical test, and the antimicrobial properties of the dressing against P. aeruginosa will be studied using the diffusion method. The results indicate that COS microneedle array combined Ag NPs has antibacterial and mechanical properties for wound healing applications.
